Ich hab mal meinen alten pc ausgegraben und auf dem ist noch Counter Strike / Condition Zero drauf.
Der Laptop wurde seit ca 4 Jahren nicht mehr gestartet und hatte keine LAN-Verbindung.
Ich meine dass ich damals CS Condition Zero (Version mit Bots) offline spielen konnte.
Also habe ich das mal versuchen wollen. Als erstes ging Steam noch auf und ich hab auf “Offline Modus” geklickt. Das Spiel ging aber nicht. Dies habe ich zwei oder drei mal gemacht und Steam ging immer auf.
Dann habe ich das LAN-Kabel angeschlossen und die ganzen Windows XP /Java/Antivir etc. Updates durchgeführt.
Nun wollte ich nochmal Steam öffnen aber bekomme nun nur das Fenster:
“Steam:
updating Steam
[__Ladebalken]
Verifying Installation …”
Und davor die Fehlermedung:
"(X) Steam needs to be online to Update, but was set to offline"
Sonst tut sich nichts. Normalerweise hätte ich ja in den onlinemodus schalten wollen, aber dahin komme ich ja nicht, da Steam nicht auf geht.
Die Originale CD ist auch drin und die LAN-Verbindung steht, aber bringt nichts.
Bleibt mir wohl nichts anderes übrig, wenn da immer gleich die Fehlermeldung erscheint.
Bei CS und CZ kommt das gleiche Fenster und sowie Fehlermeldung.
Falls noch jmd ne Idee hat, immer her damit. Sonst lösche ich es morgen mal und installiere es neu.
I had the same problem.
Dont know if this fixed it, or if it fixed itself while I was fiddling about.
But I went to the steam folder(c:\steam) and started the SteamTmp.exe, this started steam normally. Then I closed steam after checking the account was indeed online and started up steam normally again.
That started the update.
Again I dont know if its a solution but atleast it worked for me
